Request for Proposals (RFP)

On December 9, 2006 CGS requested proposals for Phase II of the Ph.D. Completion Project. The first phase of the project (2004-2007) was supported by grants from Pfizer Inc to promote the development, assessment, and community-wide discussion of strategies for increasing degree completion in the sciences, engineering, and mathematics. An additional grant from the Ford Foundation supported the extension of this program to the social sciences and humanities. Both funders renewed their commitment with generous grants that fund new project activities through 2010.

CGS member universities that participated in Phase I, either through grant funds or voluntarily, as well as universities that did not submit proposals during the first round of grants were eligible to apply. The emphasis was on graduate schools identifying strategies that are particularly effective for increasing completion rates for underrepresented minorities and women.

The deadline for completed proposals was March 17, 2007.
